Managing Time Off & PTO

How to configure PTO policies and manage employee leave requests in TempusWork.

PTO Policy Configuration

Go to Settings → Time Off to configure your company's PTO policy:

Standard Spanish Leave

  • Annual vacation — 30 calendar days (22 business days) by law
  • Personal days — As defined in your convenio colectivo
  • Sick leave — Managed through IT/baja process

Custom PTO Types

Create additional leave types for your organization:

  • Remote work days
  • Training days
  • Compensatory time off
  • Unpaid leave

Employee PTO Balance

Each employee's balance is automatically calculated based on:

  • Accrual method — Monthly or annual
  • Start date — Pro-rated for mid-year hires
  • Used days — Deducted from approved requests
  • Carryover — Configure whether unused days carry over to the next year

Requesting Time Off

Employees (when self-service is enabled) or managers can:

  1. Select the leave type
  2. Choose the date range
  3. Add optional notes
  4. Submit for approval

Approval Workflow

  1. Manager receives notification of pending request
  2. Reviews team calendar for conflicts
  3. Approves or rejects with optional comment
  4. Employee is notified automatically

Calendar View

The team calendar shows:

  • Approved time off in green
  • Pending requests in yellow
  • Public holidays in blue
  • Current day highlighted
